A tamer of the wild heart

A short note on something I heard in the new rendition of Sense and sensibility (2008). Eleanor said something that caught me off guard about Colonel Brandon's approach to capturing Marian's heart. When she was beginning to fall in love with Him he left for a while, when giving a possible explanation, Eleanor explained, "Great tamers of horses do it by being gentle then walking away, 9 times out of 10 the wild horse will follow." I was blown away by this statement, to say the least.
