I said I'd give you all my life
take up the cross endure the plight.
I said that all I had was yours
my love, my laughter and my sores.
I said that all I need was you
but now I face the awefull truth.
It's not as easy as I thought
to give up everything and not
live with the pain of having lost
the things that captivate my heart;
Give up my right to ease of life
to comforts, pleasures and delights;
To know that hardship will surely come
with days devoid of summer sun;
to know my body will feel pain
my heart with aches I can't explain;
my mind will fight to understand
and try to figure out a plan
to do things write and live life well
but to be true I cannot tell
what trials will come along the way
nor do I know if on that day
I'll stand or fall, but this I know,
God's grace is there and I will grow.
In spite of this my will is firm,
I set my face like flint and turn
To Jerusalem and to death
to self and all the worldly wealths.
My treasures now I count them loss
compared to kneeling at the cross.
Christs suffering will I endure
to know the power and the cure
of crusifixtion and of life
in resurection and in sight;
to understand my heavenly call
to live a life that blesses all;
take up the cross endure the plight.
I said that all I had was yours

I said that all I need was you

to live with sorrow in my heart
for those who in their spirit rot;
to meet their needs and bind their wounds
to restore the aincient ruins
of beauty, joy and holy love,
with compassion and servanthood.
All for the kingdom, all for Christ,
My joy, my righteousness, my life.
to meet their needs and bind their wounds
to restore the aincient ruins
of beauty, joy and holy love,
with compassion and servanthood.
All for the kingdom, all for Christ,
My joy, my righteousness, my life.
